questions

|
| Why
aren't all your prices published online? |
| At
the Stove Centre we offer all our products at discounted
prices. To publish these discounted prices is against
some manufacturers policy, therefore for our prices
please contact us via phone: 01769 574411, fax: 01769

| Can
I fit the stove myself? If not who can? Find a fitter! |
| We
are retailers based in Devon, with a network of qualified
fitters to call upon locally, but we also do work with
HETAS
approved fitters in other parts of the UK. One advantage
of using a HETAS
approved fitter is that he is able to self certify his
own work, and the building inspector does not need to
come and check the installation. An approved fitter
will also be experienced in such work, which should
make for a smoother operation too.
It
is perfectly ok to install a stove yourself, or using
your own builder, provided that you inform building
control, who will then charge a fee for the inspector
to oversee the work and issue a certificate at the end
of the job.
Contact
us to see if we can recommend an engineer in your
area.
Alternatively
are you a HETAS
registered engineer and would like to work with Stove
Centre, if yes then please contact
us by phone or e-mail.
We'd be pleased to hear from you. |

|
|
| What
heat ouptut is required? |
| This
should always be the first question since it's very
easy to get carried away, and end up with a stove that
is much too powerful for the space that it's in. As
a starting point, take the cubic footage of the room
in question and divide by 500 = Kw (kilowatts), but
there are lots of important factors that need to be
brought in to this equation and we would be happy to
advise. |
|
|
 |
| What
does multi-fuel mean? |
| 'Multi
fuel' means wood and/or coal, but as some multi fuel
stoves have a distinct bias to one or the other, it's
a good idea to be sure of your preference before you
buy.

|
|
| Will
the stove fit my fireplace? |
| Both
the stove and the stove pipe need plenty of clearance
from combustible materials such as timber mantels, beams
& flooring. Document
J of the building regulations covers many aspects
of the stove installation, but if in doubt consult the
experts here at the Stove Centre, or consult a qualified
engineer who will be registered with HETAS
for solid fuel, CORGI
with gas or OFTEC
for oil fired stoves. |
|
|
|
|
| What
flue do I need? |
| Essential
for multi fuels, oil stoves & most gas fired appliances,
and in some circumstances can cost more than the stove
itself, so it's important to get this bit right. Some
chimneys may need relining before an appliance can be
fitted, and whilst there are several different lining
methods to choose from, they all come at a price. If
no chimney is in place, then it may be necessary to
install a flue sytem. It's always best to seek advice
and prices before rushing into ordering a stove &
flue system. |

|
| The
exciting bit! |
| Making
your choice..... Once you know the output, physical
size, fuel type and installation costs, surely it comes
down to looks, style and price doesn't it? How about
effeciency and technical differences? Materials of construction?
Build quality? Country of origin and back-up from manufacturer,
availability of spares etc? Here at the Stove Centre
we have over 120 appliances on display, many of which
are working models, and we can demonstrate these differences
to you. |

|
| Does
the Stove Centre have any favourites? |
| The
Woodwarm Fireview is our number one seller, and is a
perfect example of the ideal multi fuel stove. It comes
in a range of sizes from 4Kw - 20Kw, inset and freestanding,
in various shapes and styles, with or without boilers,
and is equally good at burning wood or coal or a mixture
of the two. De-ashing is clean and convenient by virtue
of an external riddling system and rolling grate bars.
The fire is extremely controllable, and very clean -
burning, both in terms of the smoke emission and the
glass, and the large window offers a huge unbroken view
of the fire. The clean burn system on the Fireview out-performs
all of the other 'also-rans' because the pre-heating
chamber for the incoming air is so comprehensive, and
the distribution of the hot air down the inside face
of the glass is very even. Secondary combustion of the
gaseous bi-product is the result, which gives more heat,
less ash, spectular flame patterns and a clean burn.
Better than a television (or computer screen!). |

 |
| Can
I buy a stove if I'm outside of the UK? |
| Yes
you can. We can arrange for your stove to be delivered
to any of the following countries: France, Germany,
Holland, Luxembourgh, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Portugal.
Alternatively
if you are outside these areas we can put you in contact
with a carrier who can collect from us and delliver
to your door. |

That's
great now lets get back to the serious stuff!
